Lead Quantity Surveyor | East Yorkshire | Very Competitive Salary + Bonus, Car/Car Allowance & Pension

 

We are working in partnership with a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation to recruit an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor based in East Yorkshire.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS with a strong background in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects and experience working with NEC4 contracts.

You will play a key role in overseeing cost control, contract administration, and the commercial performance of complex infrastructure projects.

 

Role Overview:

 

The Lead Quantity Surveyor will manage all commercial aspects of large EPC substation projects, ensuring effective contract execution and cost management from tender stage through to project completion.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead commercial and contractual management across the full project lifecycle, including both pre- and post-contract phases

  • Provide strategic input on tendering, contract selection, and budget planning with a focus on risk and contingency

  • Administer lump sum EPC and NEC contracts (Options A, C, and E) in line with best practice and compliance requirements

  • Oversee project cost control, cash flow forecasting, and preparation of financial reports

  • Manage variations, payment applications, and change control processes

  • Conduct contract risk reviews and support strong risk mitigation measures

  • Ensure commercial documentation is maintained accurately and consistently across project portfolios

 

Candidate Profile:

 

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Law, or a related discipline

  • Professional membership (e.g., MRICS, CIOB) is preferred

  • Extensive experience working on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects

  • Strong working knowledge of EPC and NEC4 contracts, particularly Options A, C, and E

  • Demonstrated capability in cost forecasting, procurement strategy, and commercial reporting

  • Effective communicator with excellent analytical and negotiation skills
